These are the most popular choices:
Ventilated wire shelving in 12", 16" or 20". This is the least expensive option but a good one if you have boxes or bins which aren't too heavy.
Open melamine shelving (in the same sizes). These shelves can support heavier loads than wire shelving and small loose items can be placed on them without dropping through.
Custom melamine cabinets, bases and overheads (as seen at right). These can be made in almost any size or color you desire.
Specialty hooks and racks. Many items (such as rakes, shovels, golf clubs, sporting equipment) are better placed on hooks or racks where they are easily seen and readily available.
Overhead storage racks which make use of ceiling and high vertical spaces which are otherwise wasted. Several sizes and styles are available.
